Ring Cameras Catch Man Abusing Puppy, Large Reward Being Offered For Information
Multiple Ring cameras captured video of an attack on a defenceless puppy that has animal lovers outraged and prompted a best-selling author to offer a large cash reward for information to help authorities identify and catch the man responsible. Early Monday morning (on March 28, 2022) homeowners in the Southeast D.C. neighborhood near Pomeroy Rd. and Sheridan Rd. were awakened by the sound of a puppy crying. At least two homeowners captured video of the incident via their Ring doorbell cameras. In video posted to Ring and released by WUSA9, a man in a hoody is seen picking up his puppy over his head and throwing the dog to the ground and then kicking him/her. The newscast video contains footage of the incident. Warning the video is disturbing.

One of the neighbors whose Ring camera caught the violent act on video said she cried when she saw it. People in the area are hoping the man is caught. One dog owner told WUSA9 reporter Evan Koslof, “If you can’t love your pet, you shouldn’t have one.”Author Don Winslow is offering a $20,000 cash reward towards the identification, arrest and conviction of the man responsible. “I am offering $20,000 cash for the name of the sick and deprived individual who did this to this dog,” he tweeted on March 29, 2022. He continued, “Someone in SE WASHINGTON D.C. KNOWS THIS IS. THIS PERSON MUST BE IDENTIFIED AND THIS DOG RESCUED.”An additional $2500 has been added to the reward by an anonymous person. Humane Rescue Alliance is investigating and asks that if anyone in the DC area recognizes the man and/or the dog, they can call 202-723-5730. Further details on the incident are included in their Facebook post from March 29, 2022.Humane Rescue Alliance released the following information: “There is a $22,500 reward offered for information leading to the identification, arrest and conviction of the person caught on film forcibly slamming a dog on the sidewalk before kicking and dragging the animal. “The Humane Rescue Alliance is investigating the incident, which was caught on several Ring doorbell cameras at around 6:30 a.m. on Monday, March 28 in Southeast D.C. near Pomeroy Rd. and Sheridan Rd.“In addition to a $20,000 reward from international bestselling author Don Winslow, a generous member of the public has stepped forward to partner with HRA on offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to the identification, arrest and conviction of the person responsible, bringing the total reward offered to $22,500.”“Humane Law Enforcement officers at HRA are seeking the public’s help in identifying the suspect, as well as in obtaining additional surveillance footage.”“HRA requests anyone with doorbell or surveillance cameras to review their footage from 6 – 8 a.m. on Monday, March 28 for potential sightings of the suspect, particularly from the following streets in the Southeast D.C. neighborhood: Pomeroy Rd., Sheridan Rd., Elvans Rd., Morris Rd., Stanton Rd., Maple View Pl., Mount View Pl., and Martin Luther King Jr. Pl.
